If blogs could collect dust this blog would have so many dust bunnies! I mean really.. I can’t even believe how long it has been. It’s almost been so long I felt like maybe I should start a new blog and start all over, but then I thought that was a dumb idea. Its like an old journal that got lost and is now found. I hope to be blogging more…… I will not promise because if I look at my history with blogs it’s not that great. Which is strange because I think blogs are fabulous. What a great way to document your life. I just reread a couple of my blogposts here on this blog and was flooded with memories. So here I go again!
I thought I would start of with my husbands birthday. We went to Donso for two days, just to get away. We where staying at a friends house who was gone. It was perfect, the weather was fantastic, almost too hot! I know I can’t believe I just wrote that. The kids loved it. My father-in-law joined us, he is down here for the summer. I feel so blessed to have these people in my life, they are the greatest gifts in my life. I am also so glad this hubby of mine is another year older! Birthdays are so much fun!
We followed the Swedish tradition of waking him up with breakfast (I think you are supposed to do a cake but I didn’t make one the night before and I wasn’t waking up at 6am to bake)and then packed our bags to head to the island for two days.
I have a whole bunch of photos of the island but I will save that for the next post.
I just feel like so much is happening and happening so fast! Yet it also seems to be so slow! For example my house feels like nothing is happening. I know things are being done, but gosh why does redoing a house take forever!!!! Hubby is working so hard. I can’t believe we are in April. Spring is taking forever to come. I am so ready to start shaving my legs and wear shorts again. Our house feels like a zoo, which I don’t mind. We found a little baby bunny which we have now. Plus we are taking care of a male sheep for two weeks. In our little shed/barn thing. So now our house has two dogs, four hens, one roster, one little bird, and now a little bunny ( I don’t think its going to last, I think the bunny is still too little and wont eat, we shall see). Just call us the doo littles.
I seem to be longing for home lately, not sure if its weather related or just the fact that I miss my sisters. Plus I just miss some resturants. AHAH
I feel like there is so much I want to do. I either just don’t do it or I am scared, or keep saying tomorrow etc. Do you ever feel like you have so many dreams that you don’t know where to start? Thats how I feel. I just feel overwhelmed lately about everything including house work. I just want so much out of life. I don’t want to waist it. I want to make it count.
Since I have had these feelings I keep coming to God and just asking where do I go? Because I just feel lost in a way ( maybe because Swedish hard and I somewhat over it). So that is what I have been doing these last couple days, reading the Bible writing down my dreams and waiting for a peace. God has given us all dreams and a purpose in life. I fully believe we are here on earth for a reason. I think there are many season but that we all are here to make a difference. Do you feel like you know your purpose in life? Would love to know. Also what are your dreams? Are you making them happen? “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:7
Le’i made this in Sunday school. I thought it was cute. “God loves me”
Happy Good Friday loves,
I hope this day finds you well. For me Easter is a special holiday because I get to reflect on what God has done for me. Not only me but for all of us. He died and rose again that I might live with Him in heaven forever. It’s so overwhelming at times when you sit and think about it. HAHa I watched the Passion of Christ once and cried so hard I didn’t want to watch it again. So moving! Easter is about REJOICING not so much the death of Christ as it is a celebration of Him coming back just like He said He would.
But from this earth, this grave, this dust,My God shall raise me up, I trust. ~Walter Raleigh
This easter is going to be a little different for us, no family with us, no easter egg hunt (Swedes don’t do that), still cold weather, and well just different. Also Swedes celebrate Easter on Saturday (no idea) so we are going to the husbands cousin’s family for dinner. We love them so it should be fun! On Sunday we will go to church and then most likely do a brunch at our house with ourselves. I so wish Swedes liked brunch. Most Swedes eat yoghurt with muesli, or egg with caviar, or bread with butter and cheese. If you go to a restaurant for breakfast that is most likely what you will see on the menu. Waffles and pancakes to them are desserts.
So today for Good Friday we made French Toast. Well the toast was not French as I didn’t know we would be making it. When talking about making it Le’i said he had never had it. Which is weird because it used to be my favorite thing to order for breakfast. But I soon fell in love with crepes and it was over. So we had to make it.
Here are a couple of images of us. Oh plus our fresh egg from our little hens. Love those babes!

P.S. I know Friday post are to be about Sweden but its Good Friday.
There is a girl finally in our family. I have three sisters and we have all had boys (5 including mine) so when we found out my sister was having a girl we all were so excited. I mean a little girl with all these boys, she is going to be one tough cookie.
So here to announce my new little niece Lucca Carrigan, born March 5th and perfect!
All ten toes and 10 fingers with beautiful little eyes and sweet little plump lips. I can not wait to meet her!
How cute is my sister. She made this plus the little flowers.
First time meeting her via facetime….thank GOD for facetime. She is a couple hours old.
Being all stylish already!
My sister and her cute new little family!
One of the many things Le’i wants to be is a baker. Yes, isn’t that so cute? I at least I think it is. He also wants to be a cowboy and a prince. Hahah I love little dreamers, the world is theirs.
Anyway Le’i loves loves loves loves being in the kitchen with me. Sometimes its so fun and others times it drives me nuts. When it drives me nuts I think about how fast life is and just suck it up because one day he will be out of the house. So I try to do special things to make/bake with him. This week we made a carrot cake. We are secretly hoping this will bring spring to Sweden. When I think of spring/Easter I think of carrot cake so that’s what why we made this cake. This was my first carrot cake I have ever made. It was delicious! So moist and fresh tasting! Although I think I will do a try a different frosting reciepe next time. It was a little to sweet for me. Have you made a carrot cake before?
I wasn’t able to take many pictures of the cake because we brought it over to a friends house for a fika (tea/coffee break). So I quickly got one shot. Next time I will do better.
I know I said I wanted to be a better blogger and I do. But for some reason our little house just keeps getting sick. We were fine all winter long and now we can’t shake it. Poor little guy has had a fever and a cough till today. Hence why I finally have a chance to blog. He is out playing and not wanting to cuddle anymore.
Cheers to spring!
So I want to start a new thing on my blog and I wanted it to be about Sweden. Meaning a designer, brand, food, place, people….etc you get the idea. As I am here living in Sweden I learn something almost everyday that I am amazed by. Swedes are incredible people. With many skills and you would be surprised how many things you have in your house that are Swedish. I figure Fridays will be my Swedish highlight blog post.
It looks like the best little candy shop. It’s all decorated like the 30s and 40s. Plus the girls that work there dress like it too. From what I understand it’s not a uniform it’s there way of life. Oh I would have loved to live in the 30s and 40s its one of my favorite decades. Even my engagement ring is from that time.
It is in Stockholm which I do not live, but I can not wait to visit this little store. It will be on my list of things to do when I visit the city.
For Christmas this year the Mr.’s cousin made homemade candy that looked very similar to theirs. It was so good we couldn’t stop eating it. How good theirs must be.
One thing I love about Sweden is they have candy every where. I am talking every where! But the funny thing is the kids eat candy only on Saturday. They call is “lördagsgodis” which means Saturdays candy. The kids stuff them self silly with candy on that day. The idea behind it is kids will only it candy once a week which will help with dental issues. Not sure it works or not. We have loved bringing this rule into our house. If Le’i is given candy he knows he can not have it till Saturday. The only problem now is that he ask almost everyday if its Saturday. We love going to the candy shops. It makes me think about how our parents rode their bikes saved their 5 cents got a coke and candy. At least I heard those stories. Next time I will take some photos of the candy store. Although you can also buy them just in your local grocery store ( which where most people buy).
I hope you have enjoyed this first little post about something Swedish. If you know there is something here and you would like me to find out about it drop me a line.
